How to connect WordPress site to google analytics

 

To create or view google analytics report for your website, sign up for a free account in analytics.google.com, once the account is created, Dashboard will be visible.

  • Visit analytics.google.com, click ADMIN on the bottom left menu to open setting page to create account for website
  • Click -> Create Account

  • Enter Account Name and scroll down to see advanced settings

  • In advanced settings enable Create a Universal Google Analytics property. Enter target website. Click create both Google Analytics 4 and universal google analytics property and click Next

  • Enter required details and click Create

  • Once Created, A universal google property will be created as below image

  • To get details from website to sync, Realtime View, Demographics, Page Views and more Reports, Select Property Setting under property and go to Data Stream

 

  • Select the displayed website to open the Tagging Instructions

  • Copy the Google Site tags (gtag.js) to paste it on the <head> section of the website HTML.

  • Pasting the Gtag in website HTML, this can be Done by installing a WordPress plugin “Insert Header and Footer by WPBeginner “

  • Go-to Settings -> Insert Headers and Footers

  • Paste the gtag copied from Google Analytics to Scripts in Header and click Save

 

Thus, WordPress website has been successfully added to Google Analytics and it takes about 24 – 48 Hours to get the user data from the website and display in Google Analytics.
