How to regenerate DKIM for Domain in Cpanel

DKIM (Domain Keys Identified Mail) is an email authentication technique that allows the receiver to check that an email was indeed sent and authorized by the owner of that domain. This is done by giving the email a digital signature. This DKIM signature is a header that is added to the message and is secured with encryption.

To regenerate DKIM for Domain, Login to cpanel admin console

  • Under Email section, click Email Deliverability

  • Next to Domain, it will show whether the DKIM are valid or problem exists
  • If the DKIM and SPF records are showing Valid and doesn’t reflect in external tool, click Manage in Domain to regenerate DKIM records to resolve this issue.

  • Go-to /var/cpanel/domain_keys/public/ and delete the key files or rename as .old as file extension
  • Go-to /var/cpanel/domain_keys/private/ and delete the key files or rename as .old as file extension
  • Once the key files are deleted or renamed, login to cpanel and goto email deliverability
  • Now under DKIM, generate DKIM will appear, Click generate DKIM keys
  • Now a new set of DKIM keys will be generated
  • Once the DKIM files are generated this will ask to install the key in the server
  • After installing, copy the DKIM and SPF records from cpanel and create a new TXT record in your Domain Hosting Panel.
